MOSCOW, Oct 5 (Reuters) - The Russian finance ministry said on Monday it would sharply increase its purchases of foreign currency in October in line with its budget rule.
From October 7 to November 6 this year, the ministry said it would purchase foreign currency worth 279.4 billion roubles ($3.29 billion), compared with 55.6 billion roubles the previous month.
The Russian central bank, which carries out these transactions on behalf of the finance ministry, will increase the volume of daily net purchases to 12.7 billion roubles from 2.5 billion roubles previously.
